Cement!

We finally are pouring the cement to extend our driveway! YEA! This has been a long time coming and we're so excited to have it poured! I want to give a HUGE thank you to Brett's brothers and his dad that came to help! The cement truck ended up being over 2 hours late, I felt so bad! This was a Saturday morning, and we all know how precious our Saturday mornings are! These guys just goofed off and had fun with eachother, and then got the job done! They are wonderful! The cement looks great! I'm so glad they all know how to do it! What great family we have!

My Big 30th Birthday!

I turned 30 this year! I have been looking forward to the 30's, actually! I would much rather be entering the 30's than the 20's. I am more sure of myself, who I am, what my purpose is, how to fulfill that purpose. I care less about what others think of me and more about what I think or what my Father in Heaven thinks of me. I feel more mature in my relationship with myself and with my husband, and that is a good feeling! I hope to make this the best decade of my life!

This decade started out with a bang! Just so you all know, I have the BEST husband in the world! I couldn't have asked for a more fun (for me) birthday! He took 1/2 day off of work and came home, picked me and the kids up, took the kids to his mom's house, and then whisked me off. We were alone, together, without kids! He said, "OK, this is how much money you have. Get out your birthday list. Let's go shopping!" (What guy does that?) So, we shopped around everywhere for the better part of 6 hours! It was so much fun! I got lots of running stuff, some shirts, jewelery, shoes, and we just had a great time! We even stopped and got our pictures taken in one of those little booths in the mall! We had a city volleyball game that night so we went to play, and then Brett surprised me with a night out to dinner with all our volleyball friends at PF Chang's! It was great! This birthday was the perfect girly birthday! Shopping and eating out! I am so grateful for Brett and his thoughtfulness and kindness and sensitivity. He didn't complain once and didn't tell me to hurry up at all and had a smile on his face the whole time! What a wonderful man!

The Twins are 5!

I cannot believe the twins are 5!!!! Yes, they are FIVE YEARS OLD!!! My babies are officially not babies anymore. We were still trying to stretch it out when they were 4. Four year-old's can technically be babies, right? Oh well. Where has the time gone? We are so blessed to have these 2 in our family. They are so fun and helpful and just plain-out good kids. They are eachother's best friends and I love that they are so close! I am honored to be the mother of these twins and I thank Heavenly Father every day for them! Here are some fun pictures of their birthday.

McKay wanted a Christmas tree cake for his birthday. Decorated with Skittles, M&M's and licorice. This was a little tricky to make. It was my first time doing a cake like this. I'm not the huge creative type, but this was actually fun. I learned a few things this time, that I will keep in mind for next time!

Makenna wanted a heart shaped cake. This was a little easier to cut out than the Christmas tree. This is decked out with Rolo's, chocolate Skittles and fruity Skittles! Anyway, they both loved their cakes!

A HUGE thanks to Alyssa for coming over and helping me get everything ready! And a big thanks for all our family who came to support our little family! We love you all! Here are some random pictures of them through out the years. Sorry, no baby pictures, none of them are on our digital camera files on the computer. Enjoy!

Vernal

Vernal is a happenin' place! We visited this lovely town for the 2nd reception for my brother and his new bride (see previous post). Raquel is from Vernal and since the reception was to be out there, we decided to make a trip of it and to visit 'dinosaur country' with the kids.

Here are the kids in front of the huge dinosaur skeleton in the Vernal Dinosaur museum, which was pretty cool by the way. The kids had a great time. If you're ever out that way, and with your kids, pay that place a visit. (However, I do have to say that since Brett and I had been to so many awesome museums in D.C., this museum left us feeling a little jipped. It just wasn't as awesome. But for Vernal, hey, it was great!)

Welcome to RAQUEL!

My brother Matt got married last month to a beauty of a girl named Raquel. WE LOVE HER! She is so perfect for Matt and just so wonderful! I hardly got any pictures of the wedding, but here are a few.

Kenna showing off her favorite thing at the luncheon: a HUGE chocolate dipped strawberry! You can tell this was not her first one! YUM!

Congratulations, Matt and Raquel. We love you both!

Help my Mother-in-Law!

Brett's fabulous mom has been nominated for a contest that is giving away free lasik surgery! It is something she has wanted for a long time, but always found other places for the money to go! If you have a minute please follow the link HERE and vote for her, she is #4. Here's a cute photo of her with one of her 20 grandkids. We all sure hope she wins! Thanks for your votes!
