On the way home from school today, Makenna said this:

"Mom,

I wish my name was Carol."

I had to laugh. Of all the names she could choose, I did not think Carol would be the one.

Halloween 2008

Kenna totally didn't like gutting out the pumpkins. She was grossed out the whole time. But, to toughen her up, we made her do it. We hope this doesn't cause any emotional damage in her future.

Look What I Got!

I just got back from the store and bought all this stuff; 4 loaves of bread, 4 cartons cottage cheese, 16 boxes of namebrand cereal, 3 sets of Herbal Essence Shampoo/Conditioner, 2 jugs of Crisco oil , 2 packs of tortillas, 5 lb. bag of potatoes, and 3 containers of salt,

PLUS

a 20 lb. Butterball Turkey

I spent:

$ 61.08!! A pretty fantastic deal!

I would have spent $141.15-- I saved $80.07 in store sales and coupons, more than 57% of my bill!

Most of this stuff was to stock up our food storage, and then some perishables.

I love it when I can find good deals like this. I use this website the most.

Ok. This is seriously funny.

We were eating dinner tonight and I was complimenting myselft on a new recipe. "Not bad for a homemade taquito," I said.

McKay, pipes up from the opposite end of the table: "Remember those doofus ones?"

Silence.

Doofus ones? Doofus what? What is this boy talking about?

Makenna had to translate for us because she was the only one who got what he was talking about. She said, "You mean ridiculous?"

McKay said, "Yes! Ridiculous tacos. Those are good too."

Does everyone know what ridiculous tacos are? Fritos on the bottom, chili on top of that, topped with lettuce, tomatos, cheese, sour cream, etc.

I thought it was hillarious. Doofus tacos.

Logan Canyon

A few weekends ago we went up to visit Brett's brother and his family up in Logan. We love visiting the "Loganites" as my kids call them. We have so much fun every time we go see them, they definitely make it worth the drive! This time, since the weather was so nice, we went up to the canyon to have a cook-out and practice shooting. It was super fun and the colors were beautiful. We had fun taking pictures. I realized that I don't have any pictures of McKay-- he was hanging out with one particular cousin the whole time. During this 'photo-shoot' they were playing in the car. So, this is what we have:

Makenna is the STAR Student!

Makenna got chosen to be the 'star' student in her class this week. She was THRILLED about it! At the beginning of the week, they come with a poster with pictures that tell about them and I also added a few little knick-knacks that show off Makenna's favorites. Makenna was happy with the poster and so excited to take it to school. Their teacher makes a huge deal about it all and they get to be the 'leader' in their class all week. On Friday, I get to come in and visit and bring Makenna's favorite book in to read to the class. She chose, Spring Cleaning, a sesame street book and a favorite from my childhood.
